The much-anticipated Season 2 of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel launches on Prime Video this week, and fan speculation has been widespread.
Season 1 introduces a diverse group of personalities living within the afterlife, sets them at odds with musical numbers detailing their conflicts, and builds heated competitions and angsty, affectionate connections that fuel fan obsession.
The fandom's stated hopes for the new season differ greatly, but certain themes emerge over and over: Could Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the binding agreement constraining Alastor the Radio Demon? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with fan service as the main goal," the creator commented recently. "But I believe that me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator says her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have received approval by the production companies, which produce the series.
That might mean fans have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how quickly season 2 progresses, and how much of what they're anticipating happens this season.
"I believe people are going to be highly satisfied," the creator notes. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some incredible disclosures, some really cool origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about season 2 — particularly in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a couple people make a prediction grid about the new season," she says. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've already completed a few items, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 launches on Prime Video on October 29.
