Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Table

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in influence within the urban setting.

Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.

The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

With 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.

At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

First, the party understands precisely where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.

A former ally of the deceased character—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.

Casimir then paid off his liabilities and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each member has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and warns that it is a dangerous location.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could assist the party access places they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, The fighter vowed a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that control the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • The warrior and Wicander defied the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.

This results in them few options but to journey toward the remote area in quest for the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Questers and Schemers tables.

Fans can look forward to learning which players will be in which group in the story’s last Overture episode, released on October 24.
